Industrial equipment is the single highest-ticket category we source and the one where a spec error on a single machine can cost more than the entire sourcing fee. The #1 mistake importers make is buying "the same machine" from a listing because the photos look the same — the servo motor brand, spindle bearing class, hydraulic pump make, or VFD panel are different inside. A second common issue: spare-parts and manual-only-in-Chinese so the machine cannot be commissioned or maintained on day one. We run a 4-point process: (1) real workshop floor visit + spindle/pump/motor brand verification, (2) sample run at the factory with actual workpiece material from your process, (3) English-language manual, electrical diagram, lubrication schedule, and spare-parts list provided before PO sign-off, (4) container loading planning for LCL/FCL oversized, overweight, or open-top/flat-rack cargo with proper lashing and dunnage so the machine arrives undamaged and commissionable.

Standard Specifications & Packaging

Industrial equipment fails first at the level of internal component brand (not just the listed spec), and second at packaging and lashing for oversized/overweight machines. A 2,300 kg CNC gantry router lashed down only with two 10 mm ratchet straps instead of 4× 25 mm lashing straps + wooden dunnage + timber end-stops will have shifted 10 cm on arrival and may need full re-alignment or a new spindle bearing. We specify both the internal component list AND the container-load lashing/dunnage plan in the contract.

  • Internal components — make, model, kW/rpm, frame size, CE/UL marking, and country of manufacture of every critical component written into the PO technical annex: spindle motor brand & kW, VFD/inverter brand & kW & overload rating, linear guide/ball screw brand and accuracy class, servo/stepper/driver + controller (RichAuto/DSP/Mach3/Pyrography etc) brand/version, pump type and pressure/flow, hydraulic/pneumatic valve brand and origin, cable cross-section, cooling system (water chiller BTU / air cooled).
  • Machine-level specs — working envelope (X/Y/Z axis travel), accuracy (repeatability ±0.01 mm, backlash in arc-seconds or microns), duty cycle % rating (continuous, 24/7 vs 12/5), weight (net/gross), power (3-phase voltage, 380V 50Hz/480V 60Hz), installation footprint with access clearances for service and material loading, noise level, CE MD/EMC, ISO 13849-1 PL safety (category, E-Stop, light curtain, interlock presence).
  • Documentation — English operator manual, installation manual, spare-parts list with pictures and part numbers and lead-times, electrical schematic (single-line + full), lubrication schedule, CE MD Declaration of Incorporation (for partially completed machinery), full CE technical file summary if sold as a complete machine; we reject Chinese-only docs unless you have your own translator.
  • Spare-parts kit — we negotiate a free start-up spare kit on every new machine PO: consumables (cutting nozzles, laser lenses, drill bits, belts, O-rings, oil filters, grease cartridges, fuses), plus 5-year spare-part availability commitment in writing on the purchase contract.
  • Packaging & container load — vacuum-sealed / VCI rust-inhibitor film + plywood IPPC fumigated wooden crate; base with timber skids sized for forklift entry; 25 mm polyester woven lashing straps + load-rated turnbuckles + wooden dunnage + end-stops + anti-vibration rubber mats underneath; open-top / flat-rack container where height exceeds standard 2591 mm internal; full container loading supervision with photos of every lashing point before seal.

Compliance & Export Documentation

Industrial equipment has the most detailed compliance documentation requirements of any category. The Machinery Directive, low-voltage, EMC, and radio equipment directives all apply in various combinations depending on whether the machine is "Partially Completed Machinery" or "Complete Machinery" in EU parlance. For US buyers, OSHA, NFPA electrical, and (for cutting/welding equipment) specific ANSI standards apply. In GCC, industrial machinery may need SABER IECEE-recognition or low-voltage SABER depending on kW. We build the document set before the PO is signed, not after the machine is built.

  • Factory-side verification — actual machinery MD CE notified body (NB) number (if applicable) cross-checked against the EU NANDO database, workshop floor machine-hour capacity verified against quoted delivery, VFD/motor/plc CE LVD/EMC test summaries and actual serial numbers matched to docs.
  • Standard export set — Commercial invoice (itemised to machine + accessories/spares line), detailed packing list (crate dimensions, weight, HS per line, spare part values), CCPIT Certificate of Origin, manufacturer MSDS for any in-built chemicals (lubricants, coolant concentrate, fire extinguisher), IPPC ISPM 15 fumigation certificate for wooden packing, machinery manual, electrical drawings, and EU DoC or CE MD DoI (Declaration of Incorporation) for the specific machine serial numbers on your PO.
  • EU & UK — Complete Machinery: CE MD (2006/42/EC) + EMC (2014/30/EU) + LVD (2014/35/EU) + RoHS where applicable; CE marking plate with NB number (if MD Annex IV). Partially Completed Machinery: Declaration of Incorporation + Technical File per 2006/42/EC Annex VII Part B, warning that PCE cannot be commissioned until the assembler has completed a risk assessment. UKCA equivalent machinery rules applied for UK destination.
  • Americas & US/Canada — OSHA guarding and E-stop requirements, NFPA 70 NEC electrical, UL 60335/UL 508/UL 1203 (depending on machine type), CSA C22.2 Canada, FCC Part 15 for built-in digital electronics, EPA emissions for engine-driven (compressor/genset) machines, ANSI Z49 welding safety, ANSI B11 machine safety.
  • GCC / Middle East / Russia — EAEU TR CU 010/2011 (Machinery Safety) + TR CU 004/2011 LVD + TR CU 020/2011 EMC (EAC Declaration or Certificate), SABER PCC where industrial electrical equipment falls under SASO low-voltage GCTS scope, ESMA registration for UAE importer of regulated low-voltage, Gulf G-mark for GCC-regulated industrial appliances.
  • Import restrictions & end-use — if your machine contains regulated encryption, radio modules, or requires end-use statement (US EAR, EU dual-use), we confirm the restrictions and statement requirements with you before placing the PO; we never knowingly mis-declare HS codes or machine purpose on export documents.

Order Structure

  • MOQ: 1 machine for most standard workshop models; 5–50 pcs for industrial components, fasteners, and spare-parts runs; 100+ pcs for commodity workshop consumables (drill bits, cutting discs, welding wire etc).
  • Custom engineering & OEM: available on request for sub-supplier replacement programmes, OEM parts re-machining to customer drawings or reverse-engineered from sample (we provide 2D/3D CAD STEP file for sign-off before first cut).
  • Lead times: 7–30 days ex-factory for standard catalogue machines (common 1325 CNC, 1390 laser, manual lathe, standard compressor); 45–90 days for custom-build, special materials, or European-brand drive-train component upgrades; +2–4 weeks around CNY/Spring Festival.
  • Payment: Small machines/components — 40% deposit on PO, 60% against inspection + B/L copy. Medium/large CNC machines, custom builds, or special-component machines — 30% deposit on PO + technical annex sign-off, 40% on factory FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) inspection with video + workpiece samples + checklist, 30% on BL copy or after on-site uncrating acceptance if DDP terms used.
  • FAT & pre-shipment inspection: Mandatory Factory Acceptance Test run on every machine before it is crated — we use YOUR workpiece or supplied test-piece material, your cycle program, and your measurement criteria, signed off by our inspector and factory test engineer. Loading supervision with lashing/dunnage photos is mandatory on any shipment over 1 pallet (200 kg).
  • Filtration MOQ & plan: 50 pcs standard plate size (no new mould); 1 set 25–120 custom-sized retrofit plates + new CNC mould; 200 pcs pleated/spun cartridges; 5 pcs 304/316L housings. Container consolidations (plates + cartridges + spares + housings) most common. NRE for new press-plate mould credited on 2nd container same plate size. DUPRO 30% (CMM gasket groove + cartridge media weight); final AQL 1.0/2.5 + FAT on pressure vessels (hydrostatic, bubble-leak, valve torque, ΔP).
